Acts 1:8 - But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

God commands us to go tell others about Him, but He doesn't leave us powerless. The word for power in this verse is the same word for dynamite. God gives us explosive power to do His will. We, therefore, have no excuse!

1John 3:15 - Whosoever hateth his brother is a murderer: and ye know that no murderer hath eternal life abiding in him.

I know some people who harbor hate and unforgiveness toward others. That is a scary way to be. If I am interpreting this verse correctly, it seems to be saying that those people are not Christians and have no hope of Heaven. If you feel hatred toward others, search your heart and make sure of your relationship with God.

1John 2:28 - And now, little children, abide in him; that, when he shall appear, we may have confidence, and not be ashamed before him at his coming.

This is my goal in my life. I want to live my life in such a way that when Jesus returns, I will have nothing for which to feel ashamed. God, help me to abide in You and do Your will always!

1John 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Sin is what separates us from God and keeps us out of Heaven. However, when we confess our sins (ie: agree with God that it IS sin), God will forgive us. The blood of Christ, shed for our sins, cleanses us and makes us fit for Heaven.

Romans 5:8 - But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

So, we are all sinners, headed for an eternity in Hell. What can we do? Nothing. Thankfully, god has already provided a way of escape. despite our sin, god loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us. All we have to do is accepts Christ's payment for our sins.

Romans 5:12 - Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

We have all heard about Adam and Eve, the first people ever created, and the story about the apple in the garden is well-known. But, did you know that with that one act, Adam brought the sin nature on all of us who have come after him? Because we are all descendants of Adam, we all have sin in us.

1 John 1:8 - If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

There are a lot of really nice, morally good people in the world who do not see any need of God's Salvation because they are not "bad people". According to this verse, there is sin inside all of us, and we are deceived if we do not recognize that. If you have EVER told a lie, coveted someone else's belongings, used the name of the Lord in vain, stolen even something as small as a pack of gum, you have sinned and need a payment for your sin. Think about this and consider whether you have sinned at any time.
